But a card that fast is only gonna be tested by HD video, speed like that is overkill for any camera taking jpg's and 8gb is not that big when shooting in HD.

In your opinion/situation maybe, however it's useful when taking shots in RAW mode, it takes an unfathomable amount of time taking 13mb shots (and I'm not confusing that with mp) with a low speed card. Also exactly how much video time do you need? 8gb is plenty fine for most people, certainly in cameras that take HD film footage it's more than enough. I'd rather have the 50% increase in speed with a smaller card than pay more for something that I know I'll rarely use all the capacity in one go.
