wrencat1873 wrote:You want me to give you reasons why she "has to go".

1/ The primary reason that would be that she is a diabolical leader of both her own party and the country.
2/ Calling an election (breaking the 5 year rule that her own party put in place), to secure an increased majority and allow "strong and stable" government and yet leaving the country with a hung parliament.
3/ Allowing her own ministers (Boris) to publicly mock her and go against party line.

1/ In your view, which is formed by what you see/read in the media. Unless you're a cabinet member of course.
2/ Any party would have strongly considered doing the same in the same position, and most would have gone ahead. Remember, they were flying in the polls. What went wrong was that some idiot decided an election campaign was the best time to announce 'difficult' policies. Nevertheless...they still won, whatever Corbyn thinks.
3/ Nothing in it except certain sections of the media hanging on his every syllable, desperate for some scandal.

Quote:Everyone knows that she will not lead the Tories into the next election

They do? Despite pretty much everyone (even most journalists) saying there is no appetite within the Tory Party for a change of leadership (the occasional opportunist MP aside)?

Quote:I find it quite amusing that you believe that things are progressing pretty much "as expected".

In terms of the EU, yes they are. Talks are difficult but ongoing, the EU are showing their bitter colours and pretty much every journalist on our screens laps up everything Barnier spews while blindly condemning Davis. I've always said extricating ourselves from the EU would not be easy.

Quote:Perhaps you could enlighten us on just how you think life after Brexit will pan out, paying particular attention to a hard/soft border with N. Ireland and tariffs in either direction with the EU27.

I've given my view several times on here.

Quote:As for the leftist press, get real, there is and has been for some time massive media bias in favour of the right wing of British politics and does anyone watch channel 4  they have about as much influence on British politics as Mrs May, about zero.

Granted, the printed press is majority centre-to-right. However, TV and online press are massively biased to the left. Embarrassingly so. The BBC and Channel 4 aren't even subtle about, ITV and Sky do a better job. Online is just a flood of leftist propaganda.

Quote:I agree with you on mass migration, an "experiment" which was always going to cause far more problems than it solved.
However, was it yourself or one of your other "friends" on here, who predicted the fall of the leaders of the "Euro friendly" nations.
France, Germany, Holland etc, have all re-elected Pro-Euro leaders and your own prophecies seem to be further than ever from reality.

No, I predicted Germany would vote Merkel in again despite the enormous and growing ill-feeling against her immigration policy; that their sheer stubbornness would prevent them considering anyone else. This from someone who works with dozens of UK-based Germans and visits Germany regularly. Holland I thought might shift further right but I never truly thought France would vote in Le Pen - although I hoped they would simply for the shock it would cause the EU, and the vague hope it could lead to the EU admitting it needs to change. Instead they're hurtling headlong into 'ever closer union'.

That's the main problem with the EU. For all the good it does, its faults are enormous and damaging. But they will NEVER EVER admit it, and they will NEVER reform, because that would involve admitting they were wrong. And that's why getting out is the best option. Because the only other option is getting deeper and deeper in the mire.

Quote:Regarding the self serving rulers in Brussels, again, I agree with you but, remember, we have our very own version of this both in Westminster and the House of Lords - All aboard the gravy train.

So we certainly don't need another layer of 'em, do we. At least we can vote our lot out from time to time. :)

Cronus, do you really think that she will lead the Tories into the next general election, really ??

You say there is no appetite for a GE, which, of course there isnt, as they (the Tories) would probably lose.

However, within her own part, there are plenty wanting rid of her.
Most are keeping their powder dry but, that doesn't mean that they are not plotting and biding their time.

I'm 65 and in my opinion Thatcher is by far the worst PM I've had to endure. She lacked compassion, ruined the countrys manufacturing base, took the country to war, increased the homeless on our streets, deregulated the banks, made her son a millionaire knight...need i go on?

May is weak, and I don't me personally, just has no backing from her party MPs . We have to remember it was a pretty bad selection to choose from overall, and even now, it is hard to see anyone who could unite the Tories, let alone May who is just about holding the cabinet together and that is probably because Boris is there.

They are close to capitulating, but I don't really see it happening in 2018, probably just before we leave in 2019 unless they can pull the unlikely out of the bag with EU negoiations........

Whatever happens she will be out of time before 2022.

Yes you could go on! The deregulation of the banks ultimately led to the banking crisis of 2008 (PIP mis-selling, sub prime lending Northern Rock, etc..). The then Chancellor Alistair Darling had to then implement measures that were then compared to Labour's 1983 manifesto! When Chris Mullen MP later told the Chancellor that he had just implemented Labour's 1983 manifesto, he replied 'Yes, and with enthusiastic Tory support!!')

And what do we have now e.g. Sir Philip Green former tax advisor (very careful where he pays his taxes, everything is in wife's name, who is resident in the tax haven of Monaco!) to ex PM Cameron. Sir Philip sells BHS to a chancer for £1 after pocketing all the assets. BHS then goes bust and 11,000 people lose their jobs and then just for good measure he takes £500,000,000 out the pension fund. So retirees current and future can now look forward to a reduced pension. When challenged to this he pays back a fraction of what he took out, but only out of shear embarrassment.

All this was done legally! Prime Minister said 'the BHS scandal was unacceptable and wanted to reform capitalism and would bring in government measures to do so'. It should be no surprise that this promise along with all the others uttered by Mrs.May has come to nothing and it's business as usual in the 'City'.

Mrs.May was very quick though to find £1,500,000,000 after the last GE (blows a 20 point lead in the polls, after a completely inept performance) as a bribe to the DUP for their support after losing her majority. We were constantly told though there was no magic money tree, but apparently there was when her own political skin was a risk! It's a shame the same urgency cannot be found for the NHS or the homeless! :?

more socialist worker rhetoric, this place is daft.

no, not policy, just what I can tell from certain posters. I would imagine I could chuck homophobic and xenophobic in there for some as well.

every thread is basically "when I was a lad" just worded differently, it is all "Thatchers' fault", no acknowledgent of the Unions role in the demise of the economy, the illegal war in Iraq, invading Afghanistan, selling gold at a record low,

Socialism is great, I mean, it works in, eeeeerm, nowhere.
