That is different from 5 days pay for 4 days work - how many businesses do you think could survive with a 20% pay increase across the board?

If that's a complaint against the government then I'm not sure what your point is, if your wife is condensing 5 days work into 4 and it works then where's the problem, I happen to agree with you btw having done it myself and also worked a 4 on 4 off system it suited me perfectly unfortunately it's not for everyone.

A 4 day week is no bad policy.
It was ridiculed in the Tory press but, if people work 4 days x 9 hours v 5 days x 7.2 hours, surely most people would love to work 4 days ??

That is not what Labour were proposing - they were proposing, the TUC are the same, 4x7.2 but pay for 5x7.2!!
