The majority of his acting, and films, have been wooden and cack, along with his other republican conservative buddies Bruce Willis, Arnie and Sly.

Nope, he's made some great films - in my opinion, and that of many millions around the globe. You don't like him, or them, presumably because you despise populist cinema, or actors like these hitting on a winning formula that strikes a chord with the paying public, and that is your right, but you're not the judge.
Speaking of judges, I suppose one way of measuring the status of someone in the movies is to look at awards given by their peers, specialist festivals etc. Here's a list of Eastwood's: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000142/awards This actually confirms his status as a giant of the cinema, and some might say your dismissing of his body of work as mostly "cack" is, er, cack.

The films he has directed are far superior to the films he has acted in, imho. Wooden actor for me, but your viewpoint is allowed to differ.

A better actor and President would have been Paul Newman. I suspect Clint would have got into character and blown half the world to bits, whereas Newman would have been too cool to start shooting off nuclear weapons.

It was put in the constitution at the very beginning of the US being independent as it was felt it was a measure needed to help protect the new country. What never happened was as the need for its ordinary citizens to be readily armed decreased and then basically ceased they didn't revise the constitution (as they have done in other areas) to remove the right. I guess it should never have been a right in the first place but a duty which might have made it easier to get rid of.
Now the gun-lobby will cite this right and the yanks are so certain the constitution protects their freedom's it will never be amended out of it.
What does my head in though is the blindingly obvious facts that legal gun ownership making guns so readily available is a big reason for these killings is argued against by all an and sundry over there. Many legally bought guns are also stolen and used in crime so even the cases where illegally held weapons were used can be traced back to the simple fact there is such a plentiful supply.
Even over here the few gun massacres we have had have been virtually all been carried out by people with a legal right to own the guns they used.

Actually, the newly independent USA was governed by the Articles of Confederation, individual citizens freedoms and rights established by the Bill of Rights , the first 10 amendments to the US constitution, came later.
