Good point, well made.

You can always see the leanings of an article and/or reporter when it mentions Reid and doesn't mention Celtic...

Indeed, I thought people were whining that businesses couldn't cash in on the Olympics...

| in my opinion, the Olypmic Games have become a sick and offensive abuse of sports people by an unaccountable clique. The sooner countries stop hosting them on human rights grounds the better.

Apart from, as I linked to the other day, where prices have been slashed (and at theatres too).

| I would imagine that theatres have slashed prices to try and draw people in during the Olympics.

And why would they need to do that when, in any other "normal" year these couple of months would be their time of peak demand and you couldn't get a central London theatre ticket not even if you gave up your first born child for one ?

On the basis of ... what was it? Oh yes: "Price elastisity of supply and demand", that is utterly illogical, if the Games are increasing tourism and, indeed, not negatively impacting on the general tourism in London (which will, in turn, impact on tourism elsewhere in the UK).

I seem to remember the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square doing rather brisk business through out the year.
Some of the reduction in numbers maybe down to the fact that people haven't got £45 a ticket plus all the extras.

| I imagine that there will be less demand from the UK public for theatre tickets during the Olympics, as anyone with half a brain will be avoiding London.
As for the half-price ticket booth, and other similar places - complete rip off. I went to see Les Mis the other week. Was quoted silly prices at all the 'discount' booths. Went direct to the theatre and got them far cheaper.

Possibly so, if you don't mind sitting in a seat where you can't see the stage and might as well have bought an audio tape of the performance.
Having said that the official bucket shop at The Edinburgh Fringe is my closest friend, mind, you can't get a bad seat in some of the tiny venues and if you do you just pick it up and move it

Because this stupid frikkin computer at home refuses to recognise the fact that I've retired the McField one for solely banning purposes at times when my apprentice falls asleep on the job, whereas the computer at work has a far more modern approach to life and fully embraces the new status quo.
