I'm visiting London next week, Monday to Thursday and staying at The Bermondsey Square Hotel on Tower Bridge road. I'd like a bit of advice on the best way to get there from Kings Cross and also what is the best sort of ticket to get allowing myself and my 15 year old to travel around over the days we are in London. Ideally if there's some sort of pass we could get that would be great.
Thanks

Circle Line to Mansion House.

Depends how much you are travelling about for your ticket. If you aren't making many journeys, get an Oyster card for yourself from the machines at Kings X Underground and buy your son a Child Travelcard each day. If you are making plenty of journeys, avoid faffing with an Oyster and just buy yourself a Travelcard each day.

Horatio Yed wrote:Tube maps can be misleading if you were in Oxford st and you wanted to go to Bayswater you go central line to nott hill gate the c&d line to bayswater on the map. But i'd get off at Queensway and cross the road outside. The app tells you, the paper map doesn't, for the layman the app is better.

After reading this, I downloaded the London Transport Planner app (I assume that's the one you're talking about?) ahead of the cup final. It seems to disagree with google maps

For example, going from Osterley Park Hotel (TW7 5NA) to Wembley Stadium at 11am.

1 hour 16 mins journey according to google maps - H91 bus to Gunnersbury, train to Wembley Central (change at Wilsden Junction). It then says to get a bus to the stadium but I'm guessing it's walking distance.

According to the app it takes 1 hour 34mins - Walk to Syon Rail Station, train to Wembley Park (changing at Vauxhall Underground then Green Park then Finchley)

I'm not sure which to trust now. Is this because the app knows about upcoming engineering works, or does it not have as much information at its disposal as google?

Guessing something being walking distance when the directions are telling you to catch a bus COULD be a big mistake.

Personally because it's a Cup Final at Wembley I'd forget about using the bus and just rely on the tube.

I'd just walk to Osterley underground station, take the Piccadilly Line and change at Green Park to the Jubilee Line which takes you to Wembley Park .. then you get THE walk to the stadium, with all the atmosphere, down Olympic Way.

Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice.
Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality.

For those who helped me with the congestion charge thing, I still have not received anything from TfL so fingers crossed I'm in the clear now and I was told I would hear within seven days. :D
