Another good quote this time from the Telegraph:

"The logbook also states that Mitchell’s behaviour was so offensive that in the view of the officer he had no option but to threaten him with arrest under the Public Order act. Here the CCTV is not conclusive, but look at the tape above. Does the man in the helmet with the bicycle and cycling clips look as if he is subjecting the police to a tirade of such ferocity it merits that threat of arrest?"

The police log has discrepancies which will now hopefully be scrutinised by the 30 officers working on the case.

Yes there are several people outside the gate, which is what the log states.

You do realise that swearing in public is a breach of the Public Order Act, something which Mitchell admits. Any swearing in public generally leads to a warning from the Police, you only need to watch some of the tv shows to see that.
What do the Telegraph expect Mitchell to be doing? Waving his arms around? Attacking the police? Why are you trying to pretend Mitchell wasn't angry when he's admitted he was?
There is also a significant gap in the footage. Mitchell can be seen coming to a stop on his bike in front of the police and presumably beginning to talk to them at roughly 19:36:05. There is then a gap, and it switches to another camera where we see Mitchell now off his bike wheeling it toward the gate at 19:36:45. There's 40 seconds worth of Mitchell obviously arguing with the police.

Another camera, showing the street, shows people outside the gate. The other camera views do nothing to contradict the police log. Why has Mitchell released this footage the day after the police officer was arrested? This CCTV has been there all along, why wasn't it released at the time? Is it because it doesn't actually show anything but if he and his Tory friends shout loud enough and tack it onto the idiot police officer story they can make a case for bringing dear old "Thrasher" back and get one over the Police?

'Pleb' - couldn't of fabricated a better word to be honest, as in the opinion of Tory haters like 'Him' and 'Jerry Chicken', he would have definitely used a word like this. Only he didn't, it was lies. If the police had said he used the C word, people just wouldn't have been as inclined to believe it. Very conniving.

You have a poll to back that up?

That isn't the case at all.

There is one guy who walks halfway past then turns around and walks slowly back. This guy could possibly be loosely described as hanging around in the area although he looks like a lost tourist. Two others much nearer the road walk past at a swift pace as does another guy. Just seen the very clear Whitehall based camera on Central News and there are most definitely not 5 people stood outside the gate. Like I say it doesn't help with what was said but your claim about 5 people is wrong - there weren't.

Probably best to wait for the results of the full police enquiry really.

No there is one person outside the gate.

Think differently? Your prerogative, few will agree with you however.

There is no point telling him. He seems to be just making things up. Obviously his hatred for Tories prevents him from thinking (and in this case seeing) properly.

Dear me. If you watch the CCTV footage, you can see people passing by the gate outside. Since the quality is poor and the first set of footage that Mitchell released is from a distance it's not easy to see but on the second set of footage that Mitchell released (minus 40 seconds worth of footage in between the two) there can be seen at least 3 people outside the gate, either passing by or standing to watch/look down Downing Street. But if you want to just blindly believe that there's only 1 person there then that's up to you.

As for making things up well do you now admit that you made up the assertion that the police officers said there were "crowds" outside the gates?
Or making up that there was only 1 person outside the gates?
Something which even you have backtracked on and then made up again on this very thread!

The complete incident last roughly about a minute, 40 seconds of which is missing. On very poor quality CCTV footage with no sound released by the person who wants his job back.

Again, which part of the Mitchell released CCTV footage contradicts any central part of the police log?

 You probably believe that as well.

It was a minor disagreement that has, in typical UK media style, been inflated out of all proportion and continues to escalate as though it's actually important. I'm no Tory lover but I'd have had no problem if he'd said "yes, lost my rag, a bit put out by the attitude of the copper, made a fool of myself, awfully sorry." But no...instead he's been forced to resign, a copper has been arrested and a major investigation has been launched. What. The. Merry. F*ck.

Who really cares if he said the word 'pleb'? It's an ancient word with an ancient meaning but I can think of far worse things you could have said. Do people really think these people DON'T see us commoners as, well, commoners? Of course they do.

I see the arguments over the CCTV footage. It's simply inconclusive. Yes, there are people around but you don't have the full 360 degree view, and there's no audio. It tells us very little. For me, he looks a bit stroppy, but that's my view of his body language.

It'll be interesting to see if the alleged witness who sent this email ever comes forward. I don't see any reasonable explanation why the police would have fabricated the story, so it wouldn't surprise me if this version of events was factual.

If it wasn't so pathetically, desperately sad, I'd find the whole thing funny.

So why not go for a target more relevant to the Police Federation, like perhaps the Home Secretary ?

And why not release the evidence ?

The smokescreen and football supporter politics mentality has sucked you in good and proper hasn't it ?

You've not seen the footage filmed outside the gate looking down on it from a camera positioned in Whitehall ? It's really good quality - you can easily see the cracks on the empty pavement.

So, the e mail, which we now know came from an off-duty copper posing as a member of the public, was sent BEFORE the police log was leaked. We now know that this person was not present at the time of the incident and that their e mail was a complete and utter falsehood.

The contents of this e mail are strikingly similar to the police log. Enough so to suggest that there was collusion between the authors. With this in mind, if coppers are going to lie about being at the scene, they would probably think nothing of fabricating what Mitchell (allegedly) said.

It's looking more and more like a fit up every day. The police have lost all credibility, and if this was a court case it would have been binned by now.
