You can probably buy it in both colours, I learned to never involve myself with womens fashion critique many years ago, if she asked me what colour I thought it was my reply would be "What colour would you like it to be my dear ?"

They don't do it in white & gold - at least they didn't, they've now started work on them to feed demand. The black & blue sold out in no time.
It's actually nothing more than a awkwardly lit and over-exposed picture, and slight variances in how people perceive colours. Certainly interesting though.
I see the main pic as gold & white, but all other pics as blue & black, which is actually the true colour. My Mrs is a weirdo - she's seen it as blue & black all along, and then suddenly started seeing it as white & gold, and then blue & black again, on & off, the same pic seemingly at random. Always said she had a screw loose.
And if I see that damn dress again tomorrow I'll say some naughty words.

Really.
It is something new to me, but then agin it isn't a patch on the "professional paranoid people " to whom the whole world is out to get them and they jump on every bandwagon even though they were not involved. The Paris incident being a classic case.

Here's someone who really should have a lot more to worry about.
Yeovil man Joshua Bonehill-Pain is a well-known white supremacist, anti-semite, homophobe among other prejudices. It looks like he'll soon be spending some time at Her Majesty's pleasure but this clip from LBC is well worth a listen

Should be a case study for all UK university students who are studying politics and who are confused in this modern world of committee created political figureheads who are carefully coached in how to avoid expressing any personal opinions whilst talking for ten minutes and not answering the question asked. If those students worry about how right and left wing are defined then here is a prime example of how far "right wing" it is possible to go, all the way across to barking lunacy.
