In fact I'd like to know. I don't think they particularly came across in a negative way.
On the basis of a recent documentary alone, utterly lacking in any sense of self-deprecation and humour. So unbelievably full of themselves, convinced of their total genius, and also a tad creepy, in a Cliff sort of way.
As I said, I love some of the music.
"You are working for Satan." Kirkstaller
"Dare to know!" Immanuel Kant
"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive" Elbert Hubbard

Two of the most unique voices pop music ever produced.
Donna Summer may have been the queen of disco but her defining record for me was her brilliant version of Macarthur Park.
I was never 100% convinced about Robin Gibb's warbling "billy goat" style*, but loved it nonetheless. And nobody has ever improved on it in any cover version, it just has to be Robin. The Bee Gees just came up with a whole host of classic tunes, but I reckon they were at their best with schmaltzy ballads, and my defining Robin Gibb track (though it's a close call) would be I've Gotta Get a Message to You
Both leave a catalogue of music that has already stood, and will stand, the test of time.
* though nowhere near as annoying as Barry Gibb trying to look the hardman-TheBigIAm-hairy-rockstar while singing in that falsetto!

Rumours on the twittersphere that Mikhail Gorbachev has bought the farm too. Maybe not as popular but had a damn sight more impact in the world than a couple of warblers.
Correction, looks like he's still hanging around

Advice is what we seek when we already know the answer - but wish we didn't
