It's fine as long as you check your card works there. Mainstream UK bank cards will generally but ironically ones issues on US banks over here don't!

I thought this was going to be another thread about Greece.

I always go to http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/ will compare all providers and give you best price for collection or delivery

See the linkies on page 1 for card alternatives.

I always end up going to a big Tesco and getting the currency there as it has always been as cheap as makes no difference, and is convenient.

It's where we can exchange opinions, such as where in your opinion is the best place to get a good exchange rate.

I thought it was quite obvious, to be honest.

It is designed for pompous wannabe mods to pontificate about threads they think are stupid, having been too stupid to read the thread title and avoid it.

I'm sorry, but did you just call someone else pompous? You? Calling someone else pompous?

Feck me, I must have imagined that.

What next? Dally admonishing someone for being a right-wing reactionary bigot?

And I'd have thought it was reasonable for Mintball to suggest that the OP do a Google search. We'll soon be at the stage where we have threads about whether the milk is cheaper at ASDA or Tesco.

Likewise. Hence my clicking on it in the first place.

I ran in to a bit of trouble with this on a recent trip to the US and Canada.

I had a couple of days left of my trip in New York and had run out of the money I took with me. I went to a couple of ATMs and they wouldn't let me draw out even though I'd informed my bank where I was going in advance. Now for some peculiar reason I was still able to use it to buy things with the same card so was able to carry on enjoying my trip. When I landed back in Manchester I went to the first ATM I could find, had plenty of money in my account and was able make a withdrawal.
