Quote:Justice Secretary Chris Grayling has asked the Serious Fraud Office to investigate G4S for overcharging for tagging criminals in England and Wales.
MPs heard that the overcharging by G4S and rival Serco ran to tens of millions of pounds.

It's a joke the way government / public bodies give money away to private companies via stupid contracts. It's the same at all levels - even local car parking - because its not their money public "servants" easily get hoodwinked into paying over the odds (and that's when they are not on the take).

You can't beat the civil service for incompetence as well.....
Quote:In a Commons statement, Mr Grayling said he had also launched a disciplinary investigation into the way the contracts had been managed inside the Ministry of Justice after uncovering evidence that officials knew in 2008 that there were problems with how both companies were billing for tagging.

Isn't it about time that government stripped G4s of all government contracts? They used to lose prisoners, there was the Olympics fiasco, allegations of death of a deportee, this, etc.

Totally agree, but all that will happen is they will be bidding for more and it will be as if none of this has happened.

1. Do they drop any money in the party hat when it gets passed around before elections ?
2. Are a government hell-bent on contracting all public services out to private tender willing to admit that actually, some of these private companies are out to skank us of millions ?
3. We need public access TV cameras live in every meeting room in parliament and Downing St for when David and George meet the CEO's of companies that have been found out, except we shouldn't tell David and George that they are on TV - it would be the best viewed program of the year.
